TRANSFIGURE
2024
Change, Transformation, aging, growth and transition are the words that characterize this piece. A clean untouched white garment, gradually metamorphosing into a charred final look.
Using an expansion of materials, investigating how substances over go both physical and chemical alterations over time. The process of melting candles is where I found the inspiration for my design The transformation embodies not only the inevitability of change but also the resistance and fragility of the human spirit.
I think of this piece as the beginning of a life before the destruction of innocence and purity. The change this garment went through ultimately encapsulates the beauty, complexity, and vulnerability of life creating a testament to the human experience.
